Painting with hot resinous wax is pretty much like sky diving with no chute. What you have one minute is NOT what you have the next. It’s a fast, evolving medium that smells divine. (most of my wax formulas include beeswax, yum!) I lose all track of time when I am working on an encaustic painting or collage. As I work I am always struck by the fluidness of the medium. Once finished….if I don’t like what I have I just get the hot gun, melt it and start again. No pressure….no mistakes!!!! Lots of lessons in that!
